  • Dillon Brooks is taking part in the Toronto Pro-Am Summer League
  • In typical Brooks fashion, he got into it with the opposing team’s sideline during a game
  • They responded with “overrated” chants and Brooks sarcastically clapped with them

Dillon Brooks has certainly become one of the biggest villains in the NBA in recent years thanks to all of his antics. Whether it’s cheap shots or talking trash, Brooks has turned himself into a rather unlikable figure for many NBA fans.

He recently took part in the Toronto Pro-Am Summer League and even in that setting, started to get into it with the opposing team’s sideline. They responded with “overrated” chants toward him and Brooks embraced it.

To have your own countrymen say that isn’t great, but Brooks is probably used to hearing it from fans by now. It certainly didn’t affect his game here, as he scored 28 points to lead his team to victory.

Dillon Brooks Believes He Is Going To Have A Bounce-Back Campaign

One of the big issues with Brooks last season was just how inefficient he was. We all know by now just how terribly he played against the Los Angeles Lakers, but he struggled with his shot in the regular season as well.

Brooks averaged 14.3 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 2.6 APG, 0.9 SPG, and 0.2 BPG in 2022-23 while shooting just 39.6% from the field. He is a very good defender, but in today’s NBA, being that inefficient offensively makes you a bit of a liability.

The Canadian understands he needs to be more efficient and it appears he believes playing next to Fred VanVleet will help with that. You could certainly make the case that VanVleet is a better playmaker than Ja Morant, but it’s not exactly a huge upgrade. The Rockets certainly seem to believe the guard will bring the best out of Brooks and for their sake, you hope that is the case after they gave Brooks such a big contract.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
