For a second-round pick, Gilbert Arenas went on to have quite a career in the NBA, as he was a three-time All-Star and made three All-NBA teams as well. Thanks to that success, Arenas earned just over $163 million in salaries in the league, as per Spotrac.

When you have made that kind of money, you certainly tend to find interesting things to spend it on, and for Arenas, it was a one-of-a-kind Maybach minivan, which he showed off after an appearance on Vlad TV.

Arenas revealed this was just a concept car that was created by Mercedes in 2020, and there are just two of them in existence. His version is built as a proper Maybach, while the other is built like a Mercedes from the outside.

Arenas found out about it from former NBA player Dahntay Jones, and when he contacted Mercedes to buy it, he found out no one else had registered any interest in it. So, he managed to get his hands on it at a fairly good price of around $125,000.

The van was built using technology from Russia and China though, which in turn meant the touchscreens inside it were in Mandarin. As it was a concept vehicle, there was no way for Arenas to turn it into English. He considered learning Mandarin but decided against it and has just been using it as it is over these last few years.

Gilbert Arenas Says Many Retired NBA Players Have Hard Bills Of $100k-300k Per Month

While Arenas spent a pretty penny on this Maybach, he revealed that most former NBA players have hard bills from $100k to $300k per month. He added that it takes players a couple of years to realize they can’t continue to crazily spend money once they retire.

He gave Shaquille O’Neal as an example of someone who was always going to spend big, whether he had his NBA on TNT gig and endorsements or not. Well, fortunately for Shaq, he has got them, and he recently splurged millions on a new private jet that looks absolutely stunning.
