Kevin Durant’s slip ahead of the team’s skirmish against the Oklahoma City Thunder proved costly and is a disaster for the Phoenix Suns. His latest injury could potentially end his season.

The veteran rolled his ankle during warm-ups and was subsequently ruled out of the game the Suns won 132-101. The win may have been handsome, but Durant’s ankle injury that’s speculated to be a Grade 2 sprain will likely sideline him for the rest of the regular season.

On the game front, the Suns were led admirably by Devin Booker whose 44 points played a huge role in the team’s fourth straight win. His effort saw him become the first player in franchise history to have four consecutive games with at least 35 points. Assisting him was Terrence Ross with 24 points.

However, all eyes will be on Durant’s injury and his recovery route as the Suns close in on a playoff berth. The forward’s addition ahead of the trade deadline was done so as to elevate their current team to title contenders, and that may be in doubt should the injury pan out to be worse than it already is.

Kevin Durant Had An Impressive Start With The Suns

Kevin Durant picked up where he left off with the Brooklyn Nets when he suited up for his new franchise. In the three games he’s played so far, he’s averaged 26.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists.

His impressive game was lauded well by his teammates, especially Booker who lavished praise on the team’s latest acquisition. Speaking to the media after Durant’s scintillating debut against the Charlotte Hornets, Booker shed light on the veteran’s effortless play.

“It’s just every time he shoots the ball. It’s just so effortless,” Booker explained. “You can see defenders trying their hardest to contest or fight over a screen, and he looks unbothered or unfazed.”

It remains to be seen how long Durant remains on the sidelines. It’s even more important for the Suns that he returns and shakes some of the injury rust quickly. With the team set to square off against more formidable opponents in the postseason, a healthy and in-form Durant would make them the team to beat. But for now, it will be a nervous few days in the Suns camp.
