LeBron James is one of the best superstars in the game today, and there’s no doubt that he is an elite offensive engine, capable of doing almost anything on that end of the floor. Though he is no longer in his prime, it is clear that LeBron James can still be the No. 1 player on a championship-level team.
It is clear that a large number of people still believe LeBron James is an MVP-level player. An MVP chant recently broke out for the superstar at a Kendrick Lamar concert. The concert was in Vancouver, with the superstar notably spotted there with his wife, Savannah James.

There is no doubt that LeBron James is a generational player. Players who can be MVP-caliber at the age of 37 are scarce, and LeBron James’ longevity is simply at another level. In fact, due to LeBron James’ continued production and domination of the game, many believe that he has a case for being the GOAT of basketball. In fact, NBA analyst Nick Wright has previously said that LeBron James could end the GOAT debate by winning the title and breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record next season.
“I don’t think the Lakers will win the title, and, as presently constituted, they can’t win the title.
“But, if in LeBron’s 20th season, he not only passes Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in all-time scoring, which is going to happen midway through this year, but does it while playing at an All-NBA level, which he obviously did last year, and somehow the team were to win the title and it’s the title that breaks the tie with the [Boston] Celtics for most titles in franchise history?
“If that all were to happen, then the GOAT debate becomes an afterthought. Then it becomes, can you believe people were still arguing about it? They do not have enough to win the title this year unless they add a true difference-maker, which they’re not going to be able to do without getting rid of one or maybe both of those future picks.”
It remains to be seen how well the Los Angeles Lakers will do next year. They went 33-49 during the 2020-21 season and missed the play-in tournament. However, they have made a number of changes to their roster this offseason, with the front office clearly committed to building a top-tier team around LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Hopefully, we see LeBron James lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a playoff seed in the Western Conference. While they might not end up being the best regular season team, with LeBron James present on the roster, the Los Angeles Lakers will have a chance of winning it all if they make it to the postseason.
