Domantas Sabonis has had quite a rough time in the first-round series against the Golden State Warriors.

He got stomped on by Draymond Green in Game 2 and now in Game 6, the Sacramento Kings big man got elbowed by Kevon Looney when the two went up for a jump ball.

Sabonis suffered a cut below his eye and to add insult to injury, the referees missed the foul too.

It wasn’t intentional but it certainly was a foul on Looney. The fact that the Warriors went up the other end and made a play meant the officials weren’t able to go back and review this incident.

These two incidents aside, Sabonis has really struggled on the court in this series as well. He hasn’t been able to deal with the physicality of Looney and Green who have done a fabulous job on him and it is a big reason why the Warriors are up 3-2 in the series. He hasn’t played well in this game either but the Kings are still leading in the third quarter despite that. They’ll be hoping that Sabonis can step up in the fourth and help them take this series to a Game 7.

Kevon Looney’s Impact On This Series

Coming into this series, the one position where the Kings seemingly had the clear advantage was at center. Sabonis made the All-Star team this season while Looney has been solid but unspectacular for Golden State.

In this series, however, his defense has stifled Sabonis and he has outperformed him on the glass as well. Looney has averaged 6.0 PPG, 14.4 PPG, and 5.0 APG in the first five games while Sabonis has put up 17.2 PPG, 11.6 RPG, 4.4 APG, and 1.2 SPG.  What makes this even more impressive is that Sabonis led the league with 12.3 RPG during the regular season. If the Warriors do win this series, Looney should get a whole lot of credit for it.
