Michael Jordan was an incredible athlete during his stint in the NBA. It seemed like there was nothing that Jordan couldn’t do if he put his mind to it. And because of that elite athleticism, Jordan was able to find a lot of success during his career. One of the biggest reasons for Jordan’s success was his hands.

Jordan once explained how the size of his hands allows him to assess his shots and make sure that he has the best possible chance of scoring. Clearly, MJ was very reliant on his hands, and how his hands would palm the basketball while he was playing the game. But could his hands envelop any other objects?

Jimmy Kimmel asked this question of Michael Jordan ahead of the 2015 NBA Finals. Kimmel asked Michael Jordan to palm certain objects like a mannequin head, a disco ball, and a pumpkin. Jordan was easily able to palm the mannequin head but found the disco ball too big. When it came to the pumpkin, Jordan slyly dismissed the doubters and palmed an entire pumpkin in his hand.

Surely, Jordan’s competitive nature kicked in when fans doubted whether he could palm an entire pumpkin in his hand, especially after he wasn’t able to do the same with the disco ball. Jordan’s competitive streak is the stuff of legends, as many people have spoken about their experience with Jordan’s competitive side.

Will Smith spoke a few years ago about Jordan’s competitive nature when he also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel’s show. Smith noted that Jordan was, along with Tiger Woods, the most competitive person he had ever met, and would even duel with people if they were drinking a glass of water. There is nothing that Jordan wouldn’t do to prove people wrong and be the best he could possibly be.
