Amid a terrible start to the 2021 season, the Washington Wizards have been desperate to turn things around.
And while the team still has a ways to go before they approach .500, tonight’s win over the Brooklyn Nets may have been the first step in salvaging the season.
Thanks to Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal, who combined to score 78 points, the Wizards were able to mount an 8-0 run in the final seconds to pull off a miraculous comeback win (149-146) against the NBA’s best roster.
Unreal: the Wizards went on an 8-0 run in the last 8 seconds of the game to defeat the Nets.

Needless to say, it’s a pretty shocking ending, and fans in the comments were having fun with the whole situation…

Even without Harden, this game was huge for the Wizards, who have been looking for this sort of moment since the season began. Was this game a sign of things to come?
For the Nets, it brings about even more questions amid an up-and-down campaign. Are the Nets deep enough to go all the way? Can their big three mesh together?
We’ll see how things play out over the next few months.
