This year, just like most, the Orlando Magic aren’t the site of big expectations. While they do have some nice young talent on the roster, the Magic have yet to show they can be a team that threatens anyone in the playoffs.

But, according to young guard Markelle Fultz, that could be about to change.

Former No. 1 Overall Pick Says The Magic Could Finish As The 4th Seed In The East

In a chat with the media this week, he got real on his expectations for the club and revealed why the Magic could be a top 4 club this season.

“I truly believe we can be the 4th seed… I think we’re going to do some special things this year”

It’s a wild claim from Fultz considering the kind of teams currently residing in the East — but the Magic do have the potential to be better.

Besides Fultz, the team can look to Jalen Suggs, Jonathan Isaac, and Mo Bamba to lead their future.

Of course, the Magic will also be relying on Paolo Banchero to come up big for them.

The Magic rookie has seemingly impressed Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green as well. In fact, Green talked about Banchero in a recent episode of his podcast and he had nothing but praise for the young forward.

“Paolo Banchero, I think, is one of the ones,” said Draymond Green. “And the reason I think Paolo is one of them guys is because of the things that he did on the basketball court that were not scoring. … I hope that organization is ready for that player because that player is a winner. That player, he cares. I mean, he was out there playing them Summer League games like he was playing in the NBA Finals. With that type of intensity. That is a winner right before your eyes.”

You can’t blame Fultz for dreaming big, but is the 4th seed really viable for this team?

On paper, it doesn’t look like it. The Magic have too many young guys and not nearly enough talent. But if this Magic squad comes together and plays the right way, they could end up shocking the world.

Regarding Fultz, the world is still waiting for his breakout season, but there is hope that this could be his year if everything falls in the right place.

Either way, it’s only a matter of time before we find out.
