Longtime Cleveland Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas spent 13 seasons in the NBA, with 12 coming with the Cavaliers. The entire Ilgauskas family is mourning the passing of Zydrunas’s wife, Jennifer, at the age of 50. The cause of death hasn’t been revealed.
Jennifer Ilgauskas leaves behind her 2 sons and her husband as this devastating loss has caused an outpouring of support from Cavaliers fans and the organization. On Wednesday afternoon, President of Basketball Operations Koby Altman shared his condolences with Zydrunas and issued a statement in support of the Ilgauskas family.
“We wanted to acknowledge and give a heartfelt condolence to the Ilgauskas family,” Cavaliers GM Koby Altman said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Ilgauskas family, his two boys and it’s obviously a really, really sad time for that family so we wish them the best. Jennifer Ilgauskas did a lot of good for her community and the people in Cleveland. She owned multiple Northeast Ohio health care companies (Rebound Physical Therapy, North Olmsted Urgent Care, Lakewood Urgent Care, and medical billing company Darbo) and was an avid supporter of many charitable organizations. Her obituary says that she cared deeply about everyone she employed, and her door was always open to those who needed to talk.
More than anything, Jennifer valued her family life. Her family was extremely important to her. She enjoyed family gatherings and celebrations and made sure they created lasting memories. Zydrunas and their sons were her first priority, according to her obituary. A Funeral Mass, which will be open to the public, will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2022.
