The Only Player That Has Improved Every Single Year He’s Been In The NBA

2 Min Read

We all know how good Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has been these past couple of years. As he worked his way towards a second MVP victory this season, one has to wonder just how high his ceiling goes.

Is he at his peak yet? Will he improve on his already amazing numbers next year?

Only time will reveal those answers, but we can tell you that Giannis has yet to reach his plateau since making his debut in 2013. He is the only player in the league who has improved every single year since his Rookie season — a span stretching 6 years.

After being drafted 15th to the Bucks in 2013 NBA Draft, Giannis didn’t exactly impress right away. He averaged just 6.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game on 41% shooting. But in the next two years, he would improve those numbers to 12.7 points in 2015, and 16.9 points in 2016.

He made his first All-Star team in the 2016-17 season, where he averaged 22.9 points and them from there, continue to improve in almost every statistical category, earning MVP recognition along the way. This past season, he was helping lead his team to the best record in the NBA. He averaged 29.6 points, 13.7 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game on 54% shooting.

Very few players are able to do what Giannis has done at this stage of his career. Even fewer have improved as much as Giannis has over the past few seasons. He has made improvements to his game over time to become an excellent driver, brilliant playmaker, and capable shooter. It’ll be interesting to see how else he can expand his game going forward.

Today, Giannis is considered one of the top three best players in the NBA and his journey to that title has been remarkable. At just 25-years-old, there is no telling what’s in store for him moving forward.
