Michael Jordan: ‘Whenever They Speak Michael Jordan, They Should Speak Scottie Pippen’

Every NBA fan, casual or die-hard one, knows that Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen were one of the best duos in the history of the NBA, if not the best. They were the perfect duo and people often say they couldn’t be as successful for separate as they were together.

Some say without Jordan there was Pippen, but it’s the same with His Airness. During the first two episodes of ‘The Last Dance’ Jordan talked about Pippen and the disputes the latter had with the Bulls’ front office for the contract he signed during the 1991 season and the team’s unwillingness to trade him.

For MJ, though, there wasn’t a better teammate that Pippen, as he revealed during the second episode of the docuseries.

“He helped me so much in the way I approached the game, in the way I played the game. Whenever they speak Michael Jordan, they should speak Scottie Pippen,” Jordan stated. “I didn’t win without Pippen. And that’s why I consider him my best teammate of all time.”

These two guys were the perfect compliment for each other. Jordan never won anything without Pippen and when Mike retired the first time, Scottie had a hard time leading the Bulls to the promised land, too.

During the last season he played with MJ, Pippen ranked No. 1 in assists and steals and No. 2 in scoring, rebounds and minutes played. However, his salary didn’t match up the quality he brought to the floor every single night.

They won six championships together, creating one of the best associations in the league, taking the Bulls to dominate each time they landed in the Finals. Unfortunately, other factors and people decided for them and ended the Bulls’ dynasty after that 1997/98 season, but the things these two did together are unforgettable.
