Michael Jordan On LeBron James: “If You Ask 20 Years From Now, I’m Pretty Sure LeBron James May Beat Me”

Michael Jordan and LeBron James are two of the biggest names in NBA history and they will always be linked to each other given all the comparisons made between them and the never-ending GOAT debate that’s been around this year more than ever. LeBron just won his 4th championship and all his fans are convinced that he is the GOAT over Jordan, who won six and never lost a single Finals in his career.

Well, the idea that LeBron is the GOAT over MJ is getting more supporters by the day and even MJ claimed that the King would probably surpass him in 20 years, at least in the eyes of fans, as the greatest player to ever do it. During an interview with Cigar Aficionado, MJ revealed his thoughts about the GOAT debate and how he thinks things will be in about 20 years regarding him and LeBron.

“If you ask 20 years from now, I’m pretty sure LeBron may beat me, you know, based on who’s gonna be making the voting. I say that to say that I understand that it is what it is. I don’t wear it, I don’t showcase it, I don’t rub it in another people’s faces. If you ask me, I can never give you an opinion about things like that because as an athlete, all you wanna do is be the best.”

These comments are very similar to what LeBron James said after the Lakers won their 17th championship in Orlando a couple of weeks ago. The King reminded everybody that he admired Jordan, that MJ was his inspiration so it wasn’t good to say this or that about who’s the GOAT, leaving the discussion to fans and media.

It looks like the GOAT debate is getting pretty annoying for everybody. Yet, fans don’t stop making the case for their favorite players and that doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon.
