According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Minnesota Timberwolves are open to dealing their no. 1 pick this offseason.

Minnesota has reportedly made their No. 1 Overall Pick “very available”;

With Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell, the Wolves finally have a young core they feel is capable of competing in the Western Conference. But if they want to make a long playoff run, they will need to add additional talent to support their star duo.

By dangling that top pick in trade talks, they could increase their chances of making a deal with a team ready to rebuild — like the Wizards, Knicks, Hawks, Bulls, and Kings.

Last season, the Timberwolves finished with the second-worst record in the West at just 19-45. Although those kinds of performances are nothing new for the struggling organization, the trade for D’Angelo Russell at the deadline marked the beginning of a new era — one that fans are hoping will result in success.

If they can acquire a third starlike Bradley Beal, Zach LaVine, or Blake Griffin (to name a few examples), they could start finally turning things around.

Regardless, it will be interesting to see if they hang on to that pick, and who they might get in return if they trade it.
