The Boston Celtics have started the season okay, as they are currently the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference. However, their record is barely above .500 after their recent loss to the Detroit Pistons. The Boston Celtics could elect to pursue a trade in order to better their roster, and best make use of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum’s talents.

Someone that the Boston Celtics could elect to pursue is the Dallas Mavericks’ star, Kristaps Porzingis. Kristaps Porzingis could be a good fit in Boston. The Dallas Mavericks are currently 9th in the Western Conference and could elect to make a trade to help their playoff bid. Here is what a potential trade package between the two teams would look like:

Boston Celtics Receive: Kristaps Porzingis

Dallas Mavericks Receive: Kemba Walker, Payton Pritchard, Robert Williams, a future first-round pick, a future second-round pick

Dallas Mavericks Get A Huge Haul For Kristaps Porzingis

The Dallas Mavericks could elect to trade Kristaps Porzingis in order to get more perimeter creation around Luka Doncic. This deal would give them that. Kemba Walker when healthy is an elite perimeter scorer and is All-Star caliber. He could be the secondary shotmaker behind Luka Doncic, and scoring night in and night out. The Dallas Mavericks would also get two players who are extremely sound and could develop further. Payton Pritchard has good fundamentals, plays the game the right way, and is also shooting 44.3% from beyond the arc. Robert Williams is an amazing athlete and rim protector and could improve given the minutes, and would probably start in Dallas. The two future picks would also help the Dallas future.

The Dallas Mavericks could accept this package if they keep treading water in the Western Conference. They already have some solid big men, and they’re not trading Luka Doncic. Kristaps Porzingis is a former All-Star in this league, and the hypothetical package from the Boston Celtics reflects his value. Overall, the package from the Celtics sends the Dallas Mavericks a good combination of players, and some future assets, making it appealing to any front office.

The Boston Celtics Create A Big Three

Adding Kristaps Porzingis to a team with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown is an intriguing prospect. The Dallas Mavericks would have to add another player to the trade for contract purposes in order for the deal to work. Kristaps Porzingis would immediately slot into the Boston Celtics starting center position, and provide a big body who can rebound and shoot. Kristaps Porzingis’ floor spacing will be key to his fit on the Celtics: he would open the floor up for Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown to drive the ball. Kristaps Porzingis would also get a solid chance to compete deep into the playoffs with the Boston Celtics. The Celtics currently lack an elite big man: Porzingis could be a solution to that problem, and possibly become the best third option in the league.

Kristaps Porzingis could give the Boston Celtics that third star that can let them move up to the level of a team like the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets. Kristaps Porzingis could help against both teams due to his size, and also his scoring potential. Kristaps Porzingis would slot right into the Boston Celtics system and would be surrounded by elite defensive players, hiding some of his defensive woes. He also matches the timeline of the Celtics’ young core. Kristaps Porzingis would be elite in Boston, plain and simple.
