NBA Rumors: Philadelphia Sixers Could Land Kyle Lowry

2 Min Read

As the Philadelphia 76ers look to solidify their place as the East’s top seed, they are working hard behind the scenes to improve their roster and provide an additional boost on the perimeter.

According to one recent report by Kevin O’Connor, the Sixers might now be on the verge of making a move for Toronto’s Kyle Lowry ahead of the March 25 trade deadline.

The Sixers, meanwhile, could make a big acquisition of their own. League sources say Philadelphia, which came up short in its bid for Harden, is still seeking major moves to increase its championship odds. The trade market still needs to take shape in the coming weeks, so realistic targets are unclear. But one name to monitor is Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry, a 34-year-old Philadelphia native in the final season of his contract. A veteran perimeter shot-creator is the only piece the Sixers truly lack, and there aren’t many other players on Lowry’s level who are even theoretically available.

With the team clicking in nearly every way, now is the time for management to go all-in on winning now.

Joel Embiid, who has struggled with consistency in years past, is in the middle of the best stretch of his young career, and could be headed towards an MVP victory if he continues his trajectory.

Simmons, meanwhile, has been dominating on the defensive end, proving his value by setting the tone for his team and slowing down the opposition’s best players.

Adding Lowry to the mix gives them an experienced playmaker who is dependable from beyond the arc. This season, at 34-years-old, Lowry is averaging 17.7 points, 6.4 assists, and 5.4 rebounds per game on 45.2% shooting.

When you look at the current market, it doesn’t get much better than that.
