Kyrie Irving Explains Why Kobe Bryant Should Be The New NBA Logo: “Needs To Happen. I Don’t Care What Anyone Says. Black Kings Built The League. It’s Exactly What I Meant. It’s Exactly Where I Stand.”

Kyrie Irving doubled down on his comments about Kobe Bryant as the new NBA logo after the Nets beat the Orlando Magic on Thursday night, getting their 8th consecutive win. The talented point guard had already taken to Instagram to make the case for Kobe as the new logo and after the match, he insisted that it was the right thing to do.

The Black Mamba made a big impact on Kyrie’s life and career and just like him, his generation feels touched by Kobe and all the good things he did during his NBA career and even after he retired from the game in 2016.

Gotta happen, idc what anyone says. BLACK KINGS BUILT THE LEAGUE,” he wrote on Instagram.

Talking with reporters, he explained that the Nets are happy that he’s pushing for Kobe to become the new logo of the league and he will continue to advocate for that. Even Vanessa Bryant was excited to see what Kyrie was proposing.

“My thing is paying homage to the example that has been set by that man, he was the standard for our generation and he will continue on,” Irving said. “I think he deserves it, I think his family deserves it, I think we deserve it — seeing greatness personified as Mamba. Anyone that’s coming into the league should know that that’s the example that was set.”“The year after the memorial, it’s just a refresher that this is the guy for us,” Irving said. “This is the guy for me — more than just an inspiration, I took a lot of knowledge and wisdom from that guy and he’s always around me.”

“This is excellence. Kobe Bryant. Logo. Yes. Needs to happen.”

He did say that this proposal wouldn’t be appealing to everybody but Kyrie made it clear that it’s about paying homage to all the things Kobe did during his career and his big legacy that is still and will keep touching the new generations.

“I know that it probably was met with some people that love it — that love the idea — and some people that don’t love it,” Irving said. “But, my thing is paying homage to the example that has been set by that man.”

There is no indication that the league will actually entertain this idea but if more people join Kyrie, especially more players, they could take a look at that and perhaps make KB24’s silhouette the next logo of the association.
