5 Players Who Currently Play In China, But Could Help NBA Teams In Playoffs

4 Min Read

Year in and year out, players try to find playing time and a lot of money by joining Chinese clubs, as they’re not even half as competitive as the NBA, but still pay a bunch load of cash.

Obviously, ballers dominate Chinese hoops on a yearly basis and then try to sign with an NBA contender right before the playoffs in order to try and win a Championship and establish themselves in the best league in the world.

This year is no exception to that rule, and with several teams looking to add more firepower to their ranks, let’s take a look at the best players whose season is already over in China that NBA teams should try and pursue right now.

Pierre Jackson has been on a tear offensively all year long. He’s currently leading the CBA in points per game (40), and even though he can’t provide that kind of volume on an NBA level, he’s still a walking bucket. With the Rockets and Lakers having roster spots and looking for sharpshooters, they should definitely make a run at the point guard.

Jimmer Fredette

Yes, Jimmer Fredette can ball. Obviously, his – lack of defense – is always going to be an issue. Even so, if Isaiah Thomas could make it in the NBA, so could Jimmer. He’s one of the biggest ‘what ifs’ in NBA history, and he shouldn’t give up on his dream, even if that means losing money by coming back to the US. He’s completely dominated the CBA.

Jamaal Franklin

Franklin was never able to establish himself in the league after failing with the Nuggets and Grizzlies, but he’s been a triple-double machine in China. Recording 26 triple-doubles over his last three seasons, so the guard should definitely be worthy of a chance. He’s a low risk – high reward pickup right now.

Dakari Johnson

Dakari Johnson was a major disappointment during his time at OKC, but he’s shown his ability to get buckets ever since leaving the US. He’s always been lights out scorer and his playing style is perfectly suited for NBA offenses right now, even though defense is going to be an issue with him.

Motiejunas was actually a very solid contributor during his NBA career, but injuries and misbehavior cut it short ahead of schedule. He’s looked healthier as can be right now and given his physique and NBA experience, he might as well make a comeback, especially with the Rockets looking to add depth at the frontcourt.
