Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry are two of the hottest names in the NBA right now. The former Golden State Warriors teammates are doing just great with their respective teams, becoming the two biggest favorites to win the 2022 MVP award right now.

This situation has prompted fans to start debating who is the best player between the two. The debate has transcended conversations between supporters. Media members, as well as former players, have given their two pennies on this race.

A couple of days ago, Dwyane Wade selected Curry over Durant if he was a GM, saying that Curry changed the game and that has a lot of value to him. It was a tough decision, but he went with the 3x NBA champion.

Moreover, ESPN’s analyst Stephen A. Smith stated that Steph and KD are very similar, but there’s an aspect of their personalities that makes Curry better than Durant. SAS said that Curry is a better leader than his former teammate in a recent edition of NBA Countdown (2:02).

“KD is a superstar, so is Steph. The difference is, Steph is a better leader.”

Then, Smith recalled all the times Durant had a rough time being the vocal leader of his team. It happened in Oklahoma City, it happened in Golden State, and also in Brooklyn.

“KD was in Oklahoma City, there was a struggle of leadership between him and Russell Westbrook. KD goes to Golden State, clearly didn’t have to be the leader. KD followed Kyrie to Brooklyn. He’s never shown that he’s the guy that will carry a franchise on his shoulders.”

The Durant-Warriors separation wasn’t as smooth as their union. Steph found out his teammate was leaving The Dubs mid-flight. Following reports suggested Durant had some beef with Steph and more people within the organization.

If that was true, they made sure to bury the hatchet and end their feud. Durant and Curry have the utmost respect for each other, showing that this week when the Warriors dominated the Nets at Barclays Center.

The MVP race is already great with these two going at it for the coveted award, and as the weeks go by, the competition will get more intense. Still, at the end of the day, they have a mission this season: winning the championship and nothing else.
