The relationship between Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers is hanging by a thread. The disgruntled star has already requested a trade, which should go down before the NBA trade deadline. Apart from that, Simmons is currently not playing for the 76ers due to mental health issues.

While some might understand that, the majority of the Sixers fans are annoyed by Simmons’ shenanigans. If there is one thing we know about Philly fans, it’s that they are sometimes too connected to their city’s teams.

It was proven once again when an incident with a fan named “James” took plays while he was calling the Sports Radio 94WIP. It was a bizarre exchange as a car apparently hit James’ car while he was dialed in. One might wonder if he would shift his focus towards it. Well, that is not what happened, instead, this is how the conversation went.

Host: “What’s on your mind?”

James: “Uh, nothing, someone just hit my car.”

James: “Yeah, and they’re driving off. It’s OK. Anyway, I’m calling about Ben Simmons.”

Host: “You just got in a car accident and you’re calling about Ben Simmons?”

James: “Yeah, because he annoys me more than someone hitting my car and driving off.”

James: “I wanna talk about how annoying Ben Simmons is because it makes me sick that he is lying about mental health.”

Host: “I’m really having a hard time paying attention to the call because you just got hit. I actually heard the contact.”

Well, this is something you will not see happen often. It is the perfect example of how invested that Philly fans actually are in the 76ers. They want the team to win championships and when one of their players, who was expected to be the cornerstone of the team for years to come gave up on them, it must have broken their hearts.

While the 76ers had a good start to the season, they derailed off of that and are currently on a five-game losing streak. They have a record of 8-7 and hold the 8th spot in the Eastern Conference.

Will the Sixers snap out of this losing streak? They should, otherwise, they are in for another disappointing season.
