LeBron James is one of the most popular figures in the world today. Having played for nearly 2 decades, James has established himself as a key figure in popular culture. LeBron is often seen hanging out with some of the biggest celebrities in the world today.

One group that James seems to have a special connection with is rappers. James is a big fan of rap music and is often found interacting with some of the biggest names in the game like Drake, Future, Nas, and Jay Z among others.

Rappers and LeBron seem to have a mutual appreciation for each other. LeBron often records videos himself in his car listening to new music put out by these artists, and sometimes even visits them in their studio when he finds time away from his hectic schedule on the basketball court.

In fact, in 2009, James got a song for his ‘More Than An Athlete’ documentary, which featured 4 of the greatest rappers of all time in Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Eminem.

This relationship has yielded a lot of perks for James. One of which is James getting access to these artists’ music before it is made available to the public.

In a recent interview with Bleacher Report, rapper Quavo from the hip-hop trio Migos explained why LeBron gets to listen to unreleased songs by rappers before others, and the relationship that exists between basketball players and rappers to this day.

“I feel like it’s organic, and then if we just feeling the vibe, I know he need music just to, sometimes he need that unreleased music, ’cause he in the lab when nobody see it. He in the lab when everybody thinking that he on vacation. … You just gotta get him geared up like that on some exclusive time. Most definitely. I think so. For sure… He know the objective. He get the point, and I feel like, with music and sports, I feel like we need that fuel, it’s both organically married… They wear jewelry, they dress like us before they hit the court. We wanna hoop like them, we make basketball references, make bars & everything… Their lifestyle, our lifestyle go together… taking their opinion.”

LeBron is not the only artist that shares a relationship with Quavo and the Migos. He also spoke about having a friendship with Trae Young, who plays for Quavo’s hometown Atlanta Hawks.

But James’ relationship with these artists goes even further. LeBron shares a strong relationship with Drake and Jay Z and is often appearing at events with them to support their respective business endeavors.
