NBA Rumors: Philadelphia 76ers Unimpressed With Ben Simmons Trade Packages From Minnesota Timberwolves And Toronto Raptors

Many reports have suggested that Ben Simmons’ partnership with the Philadelphia 76ers seems done. The 3-time All-Star has been linked in numerous trade rumors over the past few weeks. It seems as though the 76ers are willing to trade him, but it’s a matter of the right compensation in exchange for Simmons.

Shams Charania has recently reported that the Philadelphia 76ers have had “expansive discussions” for Ben Simmons with a number of teams, among which are the Toronto Raptors and the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, it seems as though the 76ers haven’t been satisfied with the offers they’ve received thus far.

The 76ers opened up trade conversations around Simmons, the three-time All-Star, in July, but so far their conversations have not reached the cusp of a deal. Philadelphia has conducted expansive discussions with several teams, including Minnesota and Toronto, but neither a Timberwolves package nor the Raptors’ proposals have appealed to the 76ers as of yet. Philadelphia has set a high price threshold for teams to meet in talks for Simmons thus far.

So far, Simmons’ situation remains the same. While the 76ers have told teams they are comfortable bringing Simmons back for the 2021-22 season, rival executives believe it’s only a matter of when — not if — the All-Defensive team stalwart is moved.

There is no doubt that Ben Simmons is a good player, and has the potential to become even better. While he obviously has limitations in terms of shooting, he’s a player that most teams would love to have for the defense and the playmaking that he provides. He’s absolutely phenomenal in transition as well.

It remains to be seen whether the Philadelphia 76ers hold out for a huge offer in exchange for Ben Simmons, or whether they end up pulling a trigger for a subpar offer eventually. Regardless, as Charania mentions, it seems as though it’s only a matter of time before Ben Simmons is on a new team.
