Shaquille O’Neal Says He’s Afraid Of Cancel Culture: “I Try To Tell People I’m A Real Model, Not A Role Model. Everybody Makes Mistakes.”

Shaquille O’Neal has opened up on the one thing he fears of this current society we live in. The Los Angeles Lakers legend grew up in a different environment where some things weren’t taken as seriously as today.

The 4x NBA champion has revealed that getting canceled is something that scares him. We’ve seen artists, former athletes, and more influencers suffering this fate after doing bad things in the past or after making a comment that didn’t sit well with the fans.

The Big Diesel doesn’t want to go through that and clarifies that he’s not a role model. He’s not perfect and can make mistakes, but that doesn’t mean people need to bash and cancel him. Talking on the FULL SEND PODCAST, the former center said:

“I try to tell people I’m a real model, not a role model. Everybody makes mistakes. When I make a mistake, I want you to learn from my mistake. I probably won’t make a purposeful mistake, I may make an accidental mistake, but I try to be as respectful and righteous as I can. Times are different. You can’t say things like you used to could say.”

We’re living curious times right now. Cancel culture has taken over the internet and society in general. People are constantly trying to erase others from the earth after doing one thing they didn’t like.

Shaq and his Inside the NBA co-hosts are often roasting each other, sometimes crossing the line. Still, they say things in good spirits, but not everybody is willing to hear that.

That said, O’Neal is one of the coolest guys out there. He has helped the less fortunate more than once, earning a lot of respect and love around the league. You can say he’s wrong for criticizing players very harshly, but Shaq is a very good person who doesn’t hesitate to help those in need.
