Being an NBA basketball player is an occupation every kid dreams of having. For most, simply making it to the NBA is a big enough achievement in itself, even if it doesn’t;t last too long.

For others though, they get lucky enough to play for a global and legendary organization: the Los Angeles Lakers.

Whatever your feelings on the franchise, the Lakers are definitely basketball’s biggest and most recognizable brand, and it offers unique opportunities to its players.

For Kendrick Nunn, who is still trying to revive his career after being benched by Miami, the move to L.A. is something he took a pay cut for, and he couldn’t be happier.

“It means a lot. I’m honored to be in this position to put on an L.A. Lakers jersey and it’s a powerhouse franchise and it means everything. It means a lot. Putting on and represent this city. Obviously I’m a kid from Chicago, the south side of Chicago, but I love L.A. and I want to represent them as much [and] as well as I can.”

Obviously, the Lakers still have a lot of work to do if they want to win another Championship. Nunn’s role in that pursuit remains unclear, but he has already stated he’s willing to do whatever it takes to make things work.

“I mean L.A. would be appealing to anyone around the league honestly speaking, but just that chance to go out there and win a ring… a good chance, a great chance to win a ring,” Nunn said. “I wanted to be in that position again and also just to help my teammates and also learn from them. I looked at the roster around and I’m one of the younger guys so I’m going to be a sponge to a lot of these guys in the locker room and just continue to grow and develop my game as well.”

With LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook, the Lakeshow have a solid, star-studded core that is expected to compete with the best of the West.

No matter how things end, or how many people show their disdain for the franchise, they will always be one of those teams that’s on everybody’s mind — including the media, fans, and players.
