Giannis Antetokounmpo Pre-Draft Interview: “I Started Playing Basketball 5 Years Ago, I’m Trying To Work On The Basics Of Basketball And My Shot.”

After winning his NBA championship, Giannis Antetokounmpo is living his best life. The Greek player just made history with the Milwaukee Bucks, taking them to the promised land, dominating every rival on his way to the title.

Giannis’ history is remarkable. He started from the bottom and became one of the best players in the world, earning more and more recognition every year. It wasn’t an easy journey, but the forward always believed in himself and identified what he needed to improve to be good in the league.

His pre-draft interview is something to watch. Talking with Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress in 2013, Giannis expressed his desire to be good in the league, saying he can do everything on the court but still had things to improve (1:05).

“I started playing basketball 5 years ago. I’m trying to work on the basics of basketball and a little bit in my shot. I want to be an NBA player. My favorite players are Magic Johnson and Kevin Durant.”

Eight years after that interview, Giannis has become one of the best players in the league. He’s one of the most accomplished 26-year-old of all time, becoming a 2x NBA MVP, 1x NBA champion, 1x Finals MVP, and more. His life is really a movie, and you just can’t help but feel happy about him.

From being poor in Greece to becoming one of the NBA’s biggest icons, this man is really winning in life. You can say he still needs to work on his shooting, but Giannis won a title struggling from 3 and at the free-throw line.

He’ll eventually get more consistent on that, but his shooting woes haven’t been a problem for the Greek Freak.
