Breaking: Andre Iguodala To Sign One-Year Deal To Return To Warriors

Andre Iguodala is returning home, as he plans to re-join the Golden State Warriors after one year. Back in 2019, the Warriors traded the swingman to make cap space for the arrival of D’Angelo Russell.

Iggy landed in Memphis, then was traded to Miami, where he played the last two seasons. Now, he’s returning to the Bay, as he plans to sign a one-year deal with the Dubs.

According to Jonathan Abrams of The New York Times, Iggy is returning to the team where he won three championships and one Finals MVP.

Iguodala, 37, will be in the running. He told The New York Times that he intends to sign a one-year deal to return to the Golden State Warriors, the franchise with whom he won three N.B.A. championships and in 2015 claimed the finals Most Valuable Player Award.

“Who would have thought I’d have the opportunity to go back to the place where I was able to have, whatever you want to call it, legacy years, in terms of the accomplishments, winning multiple championships, the relationships that I was able to build with some of my closest friends and teammates?” Iguodala said, adding: “The relationship with the fans, the relationship with the Bay, the opportunity to end it here, was just something special.”

In recent hours, reports suggested he had three options to continue his career: the Lakers, Nets, and Warriors. His relationship with the organization and the fans played a crucial role in his return, and Iggy can’t be happier about it.

When he left, things changed for the Warriors. They have missed the playoff in the past couple of seasons, even though Stephen Curry has tried to carry them to the big party.

Next season, Klay Thompson and Iguodala will be back, trying to take this team to the top of the West again. The future looks promising for the Warriors, and if Andre can provide what he used to, things will be fine for the Dubs.
