2021 NBA Free Agency Recap: Kyle Lowry, Lonzo Ball, Dwight Howard, And More

The opening hours and days of NBA free agency are always some of the best moments of the entire year.

Whether it’s big names or small names, the league’s summer months feature movement of all kinds, and it always comes with big implications on next season’s title race.

This year, free agency did not disappoint, providing us with quite a lot to think about and digest over the next few weeks. Of course, it’s only day one — meaning there’s still a lot we can expect to go down.

In the meantime, let’s recap the moves that have happened so far and some rumblings on what might happen in the near future.

Starting from the opening minute:

(Eastern Standard time zone)

August 2nd

6:01 pm:

– Lonzo Ball agrees to four year, $85 million deal with Bulls.

– Kyle Lowry moves to Miami after $85 million sign-and-trade deal with Raptors.

– Tim Hardaway Jr. re-joins Mavs on a four-year, $72 million contract.

6:10 pm: 

– Cameron Payne agrees to a three-year, $19 million contract with the Phoenix Suns.

– Chris Paul signs a 4-year, $120 million deal with Phoenix.

– Mike Conley Jr. re-signs with Jazz for three years, $68 million.

– Sterling Brown agrees to a two-year, $6.2 million contract with the Dallas Mavericks.

– Boban Marjanovic agrees to re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks.

– JaMychal Green agrees to a two-year, $17 million deal with Denver Nuggets.

6:30 pm:

– Jarrett Allen re-signs with Cavs for five years, $100 million.

– Lakers sign Wayne Ellington and Trevor Ariza to one-year deals.

– Doug McDermott agrees to a three-year, $42 million contract with the San Antonio Spurs.

– Duncan Robinson agrees to a five-year, $90 million contract with the Miami Heat.

7:00 pm:

– Dwight Howard returns to Lakers

– TJ McConnell signs a four-year, $35M deal contract to return to Indiana.

– Derrick Rose inks three-year, $43 million deal with Knicks.

– Evan Fournier signs with Knicks for 4-year, $78 million.

– Will Barton agrees to a two-year, $32 million contract with the Denver Nuggets.

– JaVale McGee agrees to a one-year, $5 million contract with the Phoenix Suns.

8:00 pm:

– Kelly Olynyk agrees to a three-year, $37 million contract with the Detroit Pistons

– Derrick Rose signs with Knicks for three-year, $43M deal.

– Knicks sign Evan Fournier for $78M

– Nic Batum agrees to return to L.A. Clippers

– Solomon Hill returns Hawks on one-year contract

– Gary Trent Jr. agrees to three-year, $54 million contract with the Toronto Raptors.

9: 00 pm:

– Cody Zeller signs with Blazers on one-year deal.

– New Orleans Pelicans land Devonte Graham on four-year, $47M contract.

– Alex Caruso agrees to a four-year, $37M deal with the Chicago Bulls.

– P.J. Tucker joins Heat on two-year, $15 million deal.

10: 00 pm:

– Lakers sign Kent Bazemore on one-year contract.

– Norman Powell reaches a five-year, $90M agreement to return to the Trail Blazers.

– Blake Griffin will return to Nets on a one-year deal.

11:00 pm:

– Richaun Holmes signs Four-Year, $55M deal With Kings.

– Blazers add sharpshooting guard Ben McLemore.

– Daniel Theis has agreed to  4-year, $36M to join the Houston Rockets

– Otto Porter signs with the Golden State Warriors
