NBA Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers Are ‘Very Interested’ In Signing Carmelo Anthony

2 Min Read

It seems like the Los Angeles Lakers will have one of the most moved offseasons this year. The purple and gold just landed Russell Westbrook this week, and Brodie might not be the only high-profile player they acquire this summer.

In recent hours we learned that several veterans like DeMar DeRozan, Rudy Gay, and Carmelo Anthony would take a significant pay cut if that meant they could play with the Lakers. Joining forces with LeBron James is something that plenty of veterans have done to win a championship. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t, but they took their chance, at least making it to the Finals.

Well, it seems like Anthony will be another one heading to Los Angeles this summer. The talented forward revitalized his career, and after two seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, Melo could face a bigger challenge. According to Jordan Schultz, there is mutual interest between Lakers and Anthony to join forces this year.

#Lakers are “very interested” in the prospect of signing Carmelo Anthony, per a league source. Melo has been linked to the Lakers as a possibility, given his friendship w/LeBron dating back to high school. Anthony drilled a career-best 40.9 percent from 3 last season w/Portland.

If this happens, Melo would join his long-time friend LeBron James on the Lakers. He’s a shooter, and that’s what the Lakers need right now. The purple and gold can add one or two good veterans to become title favorites next year, but time will tell how that works.
