One thing that a lot of people love doing is comparing players to one another. That is part of the territory when it comes to any sport. There are a lot of people who compile player rankings: no list will be exactly identical to another.

Nick Wright has recently shared his player pyramid, which had a lot of fans arguing about how certain players were positioned. While no one’s list is going to be perfect, Nick Wright made some choices in his rankings that were extremely controversial to fans.

It is clear that many fans were unhappy with Nick Wright’s rankings, with plenty of people making a case for their favorite players being ranked higher. A notable omission from Wright’s top 10 players was Kawhi Leonard, who many people view as a top 5 player, leading to their surprise at his rankings. While Kawhi Leonard’s durability may be a question mark, it is clear that based on his ability, he should be ranked a little higher.

Another player whose positioning that many fans questioned was Chris Paul, who was in the third tier of Nick Wright’s pyramid, putting him in the top 10. While Chris Paul certainly played a big part in the Phoenix Suns getting to the NBA Finals, it is clear that it was a team achievement. The Phoenix Suns had a big three this season, and Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton’s presence meant that Chris Paul had fewer offensive responsibilities. Chris Paul was definitely a core part of the Suns, but having him as a top 10 player means that he’d have to be the main superstar on the team, which just wasn’t the case on the Suns.

While Nick Wright’s pyramid may have drawn some questioning from a large section of the NBA fanbase, we have to remember that this list is his personal opinion. Everyone’s going to have differences on how they rank players, and Nick Wright likely has his own criteria in terms of what he values in a player.
