Klay Thompson’s Dad Reveals What He Thinks His Son Will Do After Retiring From The NBA

Klay Thompson is getting ready to return to the NBA next season. The Splash Brother hasn’t played since 2019 after tearing the ACL in his left knee in the NBA Finals, starting the worst chapter of his career. He’s getting closer to his comeback, and fans can’t wait to see him on the court again.

Meanwhile, he’s driving his boat through the Bay area, talking with fans on Instagram, chilling with teammates, and more. Given Klay’s lifestyle when he’s not playing, a lot of people believe we won’t know anything about him once he retires from the game.

Moreover, his father also stated he doesn’t see Klay staying around the NBA world once he calls it a career. Recently, Mychal Thompson talked about what’s next for his son once he decides to stop playing basketball.

The former Portland Trail Blazers, Los Angeles Lakers player believes Klay will keep driving his boat, making it his full-time job.

Via NBC Sports:

“Captain Klay” has been taking to social media while out on the open water to answer questions from Dub Nation.

“He’s doing well. He keeps everybody up to date on his Instagram feed,” Klay’s father, Mychal, said Tuesday on KNBR’s “Tolbert, Krueger & Brooks” show. “I get my updates from what he says on Instagram.”

Is there a chance that once he retires from playing, we never see Klay again?

“Yeah. I’d be surprised. I’d be shocked if he sticks around the NBA scene,” Mychal said. “He’s really into the ocean, really into his boat. I could see him getting on a boat and just sailing the world — cruising the world.

“Becoming an old sea captain in The Bahamas, and taking tourists out for excursions and stuff [laughter]. I could see him doing that. And if you’ve ever been to The Bahamas, you’ll understand why he’d want to do it. It’s the most beautiful sailing or boating water in the world.

This has been common for Klay in recent times. While he keeps rehabbing, he’s shared one of his passions with the public. Whenever he starts live streaming, people join him. Thompson is a very fun guy, and we see what type of captain he’ll be if his father’s words turn to be true.

Meanwhile, he’s getting ready for the next season. The Golden State Warriors hope to have the best version of the shooting guard after missing him for the last two seasons. He’s ready to get his revenge and show the world that his team isn’t done yet.
