Ray Allen has surprisingly left two teammates that helped him win his second NBA championship out of his former teammate lineup. The former Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics star played alongside great names during his career, but not all of them could make it to this starting five.
These lists, lineups, and rankings always bring controversy. Allen learned how to be a controversial player during his last years in the association. He recently talked with Knuckleheads, where he was asked to pick four teammates to play.
Surprisingly, the sharpshooter left LeBron James and Dwyane Wade off his former teammate starting lineup.
“I am taking Glenn Robinson, Terrell Brandon, I have played with Shaq, and it is easy to put Shaq, and I’m gonna say KG,” said Allen, via Essentially Sports.
This is curious knowing that Ray won one title with James and Wade while he was in Miami. He saved the team’s life in that Game 6 against the San Antonio Spurs, making a clutch corner triple to tie the game, which Miami later won.
They would win Game 7 to pull off a 3-2 comeback when they were close to losing Game 6 and the series. This doesn’t necessarily mean that Allen didn’t enjoy his time in Miami, though. However, sometimes chemistry is more important to assemble these imaginary squads.
It’s also worth noting that he picked Kevin Garnett, a former Celtics teammate that hated Ray when he decided to join the Heat in the summer of 2012. While the Big Ticket completely ignored Allen during his Hall of Fame enshrinement speech, the shooting guard still remembers him as one of the best teammates he’s had.
