Charles Barkley Says Chris Paul Belongs In The MVP Conversation: “He’s Been Fantastic All Season.”

With a record of 36-14, the Phoenix Suns have solidified themselves as one of the NBA’s top teams this season. No doubt, a large part of that success can be attributed to Devin Booker, a 26-point-per-game scorer, and the Suns’ best player.

But Chris Paul deserves significant recognition as well, not only for how well he’s been able to run their offense but also for his overall leadership abilities, which have helped the team become legitimate contenders.

Impressed by CP3’s performance this year, NBA analyst Charles Barkley gave him a nod in the MVP discussion.

“Early in the season, LeBron was MVP then Joel Embiid. Then James Harden was the MVP. You guys have to start giving my guy Chris Paul love for MVP. He’s been fantastic all season.”

Statistically, Paul isn’t quite on par with the numbers of Dame, Embiid, or Harden, “only” averaging 16.3 points, 8.8 assists, and 4.7 rebounds per game on 49.3% shooting.

But, again, Paul does all the little things for his team that give them the edge time and time again. Last year, without Paul, the Suns weren’t able to make the playoffs at all. Now, with him, they’re the second seed in the West and look likely to make a deep playoff run.

The difference is staggering, and if injuries continue to plague other candidates, CP3 might end up being the one to lift that Larry O’Brien by the time it’s all said and done.
