Stephen A. Smith Says Russell Westbrook Could Be An Asset For The New York Knicks: “His Tenacity His Veracity His Athleticism His Ability To Put Up Points In Buckets, That Would Be A Plus For Them Right Now.”

For as good as Russell Westbrook is, he is probably one of the most highly criticized superstars in today’s NBA. Between his failure to win a ring, his unstable jump shot, and his unforgiving playstyle, he seems to rub a lot of people the wrong way.

For some, like ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, he just simply hasn’t achieved enough team success for how hood his talent is.

Still, despite Smith’s stance, he openly admitted on ESPN’s “Stephen A.’s World,” that Westbrook could be an asset on the Knicks.

“I recently got on Russell Westbrook because again you’re not winning enough and on top of it all you haven’t worked on your jump shot okay because it doesn’t seem to improve but everything else in terms of his tenacity his veracity his athleticism his ability to put up points in buckets here’s that would be a plus for the New York Knicks now.

I don’t think it’s going to happen because he’s getting too much money and the New York Knicks is in the midst of a culture change so they ain’t trying to change but so much but I tell you where it gets interesting.

Tom Thibodeau coaching in New York City having those boys playing defense and playing together the stubbornness that Russell Westbrook exhibits if you can reel that in just a touch Russell Westbrook’s an asset.”

Obviously, Russ has a lot of flaws when it comes to his production on the court. He can’t shoot, has trouble controlling the ball, and can often make bad decisions with the game on the line. But if, as Stephen A. suggests, Tom Thibedaou can tone that down, Westbrook could really be someone special for them.

Heck, even as he is now, he’d be their best player by far. This season, the Brodie is averaging 21.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 10.5 assists on 43.2% shooting.
