Enes Kanter Supports LeBron James In Debate Against Zlatan Ibrahimovic: “When Athletes Speak Up, It’s Not For Fun Or Attention. It’s To Hold These Regimes Accountable.”

2 Min Read

There are times in the world where people have no choice but to speak out against certain wrongs that are happening. LeBron James has been an outspoken voice over issues facing African-American people today and has been vocal in his support of social justice in the United States. Despite the fact that many respect him for stating his opinion, others say that sports and politics shouldn’t mix. One of those people is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a prominent soccer player, who has stated recently criticized James for being outspoken on politics.

One of the people who has come to LeBron James’ defense was Enes Kanter, a center for the Portland Trail Blazers. Kanter sent a strong message to Ibrahimovic and explained why exactly athletes speak out.

Speaking out often puts a target on a player’s back: there have been many who have been threatened for their political stances before, including Kanter himself. No-one wants the repercussions that come with taking a stand, but there are times where it is important to fight for what you believe in. LeBron James is somebody who fights for a better future not only for himself but for others. He is using his platform for change, and he has every right to do so. LeBron James and Enes Kanter speaking out is a great example for future generations, as they will feel more empowered to fight for what they think is right when they see big-time NBA players do the same things.
