Vanessa Bryant Fires Back At Actress Who Called Kobe Bryant A “Rapist”

3 Min Read

Vanessa Bryant responded to one actress who called Kobe Bryant a ‘rapist’ the very same day he was killed in a fatal helicopter crash in Calabasas, California. Kobe, his daughter Gianna, and seven other people were killed in an accident that shocked the NBA and the rest of the world.

While most people grieved Kobe’s early departure from this world, others decided to attack the Los Angeles Lakers superstar, including actress Evan Rachel Wood, mostly known for her work on HBO’s series “Westworld.” At the time, she praised Kobe’s career as a global basketball icon but also took the chance to diss the 5x NBA champion, calling him a rapist.

“What has happened is tragic. I am heartbroken for Kobe’s family. He was a sports hero. He was also a rapist. And all of these truths can exist simultaneously,” Wood wrote on Twitter the same day Kobe was killed.

It took over a year for Vanessa Bryant to find out what the woman had written about her husband, mostly because of the backlash the actress received from Kobe’s fans around the world. Well, this time was Vanessa’s turn to fire back at the 33-year-old, calling her out for making those remarks when she doesn’t know the details of Kobe’s situation at that time.

“Your false, insensitive, defamatory, and slanderous tweet on 1/26/20 is vile and disturbing to say the least. Behavior like this is part of the reason why innocent black men go to jail for crimes they didn’t commit. An accusation doesn’t make someone guilty. You don’t the facts of the case.”

In case you don’t know what they’re talking about, Kobe was accused of rape in 2003 by a hotel employee. The Black Mamba slept with the unknown woman, who then said she hasn’t agreed to the encounter. In the end, she refused to testify and Bryant settled with her out of court.

Wood apparently fired back to Bryant’s comments on Instagram, posting a series of stories talking about the truth and what people do and say as a representation of themselves.

Kobe’s widow was anything but happy with this. A lot of people haven’t found a better way to try to bring Kobe’s name down but he married a woman that will always have his back no matter what.
