Dwight Howard Says Ben Simmons Has The Opportunity To Become One Of The Greatest Players Ever: “He’s A Young LeBron James.”

The ink is still fresh on Dwight Howard’s contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, but he hasn’t wasted any time in lifting up his new teammates.

On young stud Ben Simmons, Dwight made a rather bold comparison to LeBron James, saying the Philly star has the opportunity to become an All-Time great.

#Sixers center Dwight Howard: 'I've been saying for a couple years Ben Simmons is a young LeBron. I love the way he plays, how unselfish he is. … He has an opportunity to be one of the greatest to ever play the game.'

— Tom Moore (@TomMoorePhilly) November 25, 2020

Drafted in 2016, Ben has been the face of Sixers basketball for the past few years now — and for good reasons. With Philly in playoff contention year after year, Simmons has been leading the charge with his co-star Joel Embiid, averaging 16.4 points, 8 assists, and 7.8 rebounds per game on 58% shooting.

With just three total seasons under his belt, Ben is already a 2x All-Star and 1x All-NBA player.

Unfortunately, the Sixers took a step back in 2019-20, and new team President Daryl Morey is trying to make moves to get them back on track. Getting Dwight and Danny Green (former Lakers) should help in achieving that goal. But this team goes as far as Simmons takes them, so it will ultimately be up to him how well they do in the upcoming season.
