NBA 2K21 Releases Next-Gen Face Scans And They’re Incredibly Realistic

The moment every single basketball fan in the world was waiting for is finally here. We get to play NBA 2K21 and, even though some people argue that they usually don’t add many new features, we can be sure that this version is going to completely change the way the game is played.

From bringing back old characters to changing ‘The Neighborhood’ for ‘The City’, developers from 2K Sports have definitely taken the game up-a-notch this season. And while there were some complaints about gameplay and user experience, that’s standard for early releases.

But besides all the new features and ways to make custom characters, perhaps the most impressive thing about NBA 2K21 is the Next-Gen face scan technology, as more often than not, it looks like a picture or some kind of hologram of the players.

They recently posted teasers of how some players like James Harden, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Nikola Jokic, Trae Young, and Luka Doncic will look, while also including legends of the game as usual like Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Shaquille O’Neal, Michael Jordan, Tracy McGrady, and even Wilt Chamberlain.

Obviously, the graphics will look even better on newer platforms like PS5 but there’s no reason to think that older consoles aren’t going to make the most of the game as well.

Year after year, countless basketball and videogame fans from all over the world wait patiently until NBA 2K is finally released and for very good reasons, as they never cease to amaze and improve, even if it’s in the smallest details.

So, next time you crash into a friend’s house and he’s playing 2K, you may want to look twice to make sure they’re not watching an actual NBA game. Truth be told, people who need glasses may not even tell the difference.
