As one of the best young players in the NBA, the Phoenix Suns need to hang on to Devin Booker if they want to become competitive in the Western Conference.

Unfortunately, according to NBA Insider Ryen Russillo, he may already be looking for his way out of the franchise.

According to @ryenarussillo, it’s the “worst kept secret in the NBA” that Devin Booker already wants out of Phoenix

The former No. 13 pick is coming off his first All-Star season, in which he averaged 26.6 points, 6.5 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game on 48.9% shooting. The Suns were close to securing a spot in the Orlando play-in tournament, only to get left out with victories by their competitors.

Obviously, Phoenix basketball seems to be trending upwards, but there is a concern among NBA circles that the Suns lack the direction to surround Booker and Ayton with the pieces they need to win. They haven’t won a postseason series since 2010, and have been among the worst teams in the West over the past five years.

Booker, who turned 24 in October, has been caught in the middle of all these struggles. Is his patience running thin? Has Phoenix run out of time?

We’ll see soon enough which way things are headed, but it’s important to note that the young star is signed with the Suns through 2024 after signing a 5-yr rookie-scale max extension in 2018.
