Rajon Rondo Is The Second Player In NBA History To Win A Title With The Lakers And Celtics

Rajon Rondo faced a lot of criticism earlier in the season and even when he rejoined the team in the bubble in Orlando after suffering an injury.

Some Lakers fans bashed Rondo for his lack of range and how he allegedly hurt the team’s spacing, claiming that he wasn’t the same lockdown defender and top-notch playmaker he once was with the Boston Celtics.

Fast forward to the playoffs and Rondo proved once again that he’s tailor-made for the big stage. He made huge plays down the stretch on both ends of the hardwood and was the ultimate floor general whenever he was called upon by Frank Vogel.

Now, he’s the second player in NBA history to ever win a championship with the Lakers and Celtics’ franchise, joining Clyde Lovelette in that very exclusive club. Notably, he helped both teams lift their league-leading 17th banner.

Moreover, Rondo is the very first player to ever win an NBA Championship with the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics, as Lovelette did it when the franchise was still in Minneapolis.

It’s clear that Rondo is no longer a top-5 or top-10 point guard like he was during his stint with the Celtics. He’s been a tough pill to swallow to some coaches earlier in his career, but there’s just no denying that he’s the kind of savvy veteran with Championship pedigree that all teams need to get over the hump.

Like him or not, nobody can deny the fact that Rondo takes his game up a notch in the playoffs and has now written his name in basketball history by playing a huge role in both team’s number 17 title.
