JJ Redick Says Patrick Beverley, Marcus Smart Are The ‘Biggest Floppers’ In The NBA

Veteran sharpshooter JJ Redick isn’t a person afraid of speaking his mind and he demonstrates that both on and off the court. Now running his own podcast, ‘The Old man and the Three,’ Redick has been able to discuss some topics that are very interesting for NBA fans. During Monday’s edition of the show, he had Duncan Robinson as a guest, discussing the playoffs experience for him, how he sees the Heat in their series against the Celtics, and the flopping in the league.

According to Redick, Patrick Beverley of the Los Angeles Clippers and Marcus Smart of the Boston Celtics are the biggest floppers in the NBA right now. This has been a topic of discussion in the association for some time now and Redick had to address it, too (6:20 minute mark).

“The obvious ones that stick out are like Marcus Smart and Pat Beverley…I feel like Kyle (Lowry) to a degree, maybe, is good at exaggerating contact. I think Harden is good at exaggerating contact. But, to me, it’s not necessarily flopping, it’s more of a skill because often times, like, there’s the really egregious flops or the really egregious calls for, let’s say, a player like Harden where you look at on tape and are like ‘Man, that really wasn’t a foul.’”

Both players have been criticized for doing this and if you ask, most people around the league will pick Smart as the biggest floppers. Redick also mentioned other names like Kyle Lowry and James Harden, but he explained the things they often did were a little different.

Smart and Beverley are the ones who have drawn the most criticism. You can love or hate these players for what they do and it doesn’t seem like they’re changing their ways anytime soon. They already have a reputation and it’ll be hard for fans and other players to change their minds about them.
