Montrezl Harrell: “I’m The Modern-Day Rodman”

Montrezl Harrell is ready to help the Los Angeles Clippers lift the NBA championship for the first time ever this season. Harrell has been a very valuable piece for the Clips and he doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. The big man is confident he can bring a lot to the table for the Clippers, comparing himself with the great Dennis Rodman and the things he made with the Chicago Bulls.

He joined the “Knuckleheads” podcast with Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles this week. He was asked to compare himself with a player from the past, as to what he replied with by mentioning Rodman.

“I’ve been telling people, I’m the modern-day Rodman, for real. I’m the modern-day Rodman. That’s it. Rodman, man. Just to watch his whole process in general, man. Like, even after the documentary, I got on the Twitter and tweeted “Hey man, we gotta give a lot more credit then what we did”.

It’s good to see that he’s looking up to Rodman, but comparing himself to the greatest rebounder of all time seems a little too much. Harrell has been great for the Clippers this year, but mostly as a scorer. He’s been a good rebounder but not at the same level as Rodman.

Montrezl is a very good defender but is yet to make an NBA All-Defensive team in five seasons as a pro. Rodman was a two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and seven-time NBA All-Defensive First Team. It looks like the only thing they have in common is their height, both standing at 6-foot-7.
