The “Big Three” Miami Heat dominated the NBA for four years before LeBron James left to go back home. And while it’s safe to say those years weren’t all bliss for Miami, the team achieved a level of success that many players have never known.
In fact, the chance of success is the reason that team was formed in the first place. According to what Chris Bosh said in a recent interview with TrueHoop, he joined after realizing just hard it was to win at basketball’s highest level.
“The 08/09 year, I had a lot going on with myself. I kind of came to some realization how hard it is to win in the NBA…Trying harder and trying harder with no results became deflating. I believe Kobe was coming off the back-to-back. LeBron had been to the Finals, D had won one. And I’m not even scratching the surface. Not even competitive in the first round yet.”
Bosh had played for the Raptors for seven seasons before his stint in Miami began and it was there that he put on his best performances — averaging 20 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game on 49% shooting.
Obviously, his decision in 2010 came at a price and he would never again be the top dog we saw in Toronto.
But in the end, he walked away with two Championships to his name, cementing his legacy as one of history’s All-Time great power forwards. It doesn’t seem like he has any regrets.
