Paul Pierce: ‘The Boston Celtics Have The Best Starting Lineup In The NBA’

3 Min Read

It didn’t take too long for Paul Pierce to make a bold claim once again. The Boston Celtics icon has a big love for his team, no doubt about, but truth to his style, Pierce took things a little too far when making the case for the C’s.

Pierce believes the Celtics have the best starting lineup in the NBA. He appeared in an ESPN segment talking about the schedule for the resumption of the season, where he claimed the Celtics count with the best starting five in the entire league. The lineup composed by Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Gordon Hayward and Daniel Theis is considered the best in the league by Pierce.

They have done a great job this season trying to thrive and compete in the East, but that’s just too much in the eyes of many.

“Boston poses the best threat, and not because I played for Boston. When you look at their roster, Jayson Tatum started playing like a superstar before this work stoppage. In my opinion, Boston has the best starting five in the NBA,” the 2008 NBA champion said.

To be fair, the team has played very well this season, especially after the horrendous campaign they had last year with all the problems with Kyrie Irving and his leadership. Now, with Kemba Walker as the floor general, the Celtics changed everything and everybody improved their level.

If we talk about Jayson Tatum, the man just became an All-Star this season and people are already seeing him as one of the future faces of the league. Before the league’s suspension, he was averaging 23.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.4 steals in 59 games.

The rest of the players on the starting lineup also took their game to the next level. People believed Gordon Hayward was going to have a bad season but he’s demonstrated his career is not over yet and he can be helpful for his team.

There is no doubt they are a very good thing with a bright future ahead but saying they have the best starting five in the league is just too much. Teams like the Bucks, Lakers, Clippers or Raptors can refute those claims.
