Toni Kukoc: “Kobe Bryant Just Copied From Michael Jordan”

Former Chicago Bulls player Toni Kukoc has made a big claim about Kobe Bryant and the similarities the Los Angeles Lakers star had with Michael Jordan. Kobe and MJ clearly had some things in common, with the former chasing Jordan and his six rings. In the end, Kobe ‘only’ could get five, but the resemblance between him and His Airness will always be there.

For Kukoc, though, Kobe copied Michael, his style of play and the way he approached the game. During an interview with tportal.hr, the former small forward discussed the similarities between Bryant and Jordan, claiming KB24 was a ‘classic copy’ of Mike.

“Kobe Bryant was a classic copy of Michael Jordan, and that puts him a little sideways. They played in the same position, they were physically very similar, and the fact is that Kobe just copied from Jordan, and with that he got his psyche.”

“A documentary about Jordan is coming soon and in these ten episodes, people will be able to see how many similarities there were between the two. Both were willing to die to win and worked very hard and put in an unprecedented amount of effort to be the best.”

“To me, Michael Jordan is a marvel of nature, he would sometimes sleep for only three hours and then dominate the field with unprecedented energy!” Kukoc said.

It’s not a secret that Kobe always looked up to Jordan and adopted some of his moves, but he made sure to make a name for himself. You could see that ‘Mamba Mentality’ in him since he was in high school, maximizing that mindset when he arrived in the association. Jordan revealed he considered Kobe a little brother during his speech in Bryant’s memorial service last February.

We’re pretty sure MJ felt more than flattered to see Kobe trying to emulate and surpass him.

Kukoc currently works as a special advisor with the Bulls franchise. He was part of the Bulls’ second three-peat from 1996 through 1998, sharing touches with MJ, Scottie Pippen, and Denis Rodman among others.
