DeMar DeRozan On Rumors That He Will Leave The Spurs This Summer: “Did My Momma Say It? Then Don’t Listen To It.”

1 Min Read

There have been many questions about the Spurs this season. As their team fights for a playoff spot, increasing doubt has been shed on their potential to turn things around both this season and beyond.

DeMar DeRozan, who was traded there in the summer of 2018, has been the subject of talks claiming he will leave the Spurs if they can’t agree to a new extension.

DeRozan himself, however, disputed those claims in a response to Haynes’ report.

Clearly, we shouldn’t be buying the notion that DeRozan is prepared to leave San Antonio. But it does make sense for him to move on.

His production has dipped since joining the Spurs a season-and-a-half ago. After being named an All-Star three straight seasons, he has yet to return since becoming a Spur. To be blunt, DeRozan has fallen to the backburner in San Antonio and his team hasn’t even found any success with him at the helm.

At 30-years-old, DeMar has one last chance to sign a big contract — but he has to think long and hard about where he wants to go. His next move may very well be his last.
