After striking out on virtually every top free agent this past summer, the Knicks gave up their dreams of Championship contention this season. After an abysmal first few weeks, they also gave up on their coach David Fizdale, deciding to let him go in favor of someone new.
And while the direction of the team is questionable, at best, the Knicks haven’t exactly given up on the trade market and have a few names in mind ahead of February’s deadline.
One such name, according to Shams Charania, is Andre Drummond of the Detroit Pistons.

While the price for Drummond is undoubtedly high, there isn’t much the Knicks have to lose at this point. Averaging 17 points, 16 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks, he’d be their best player by far.
He might also be useful for attracting other free agents to the franchise. With a rebounding, inside-dominant center like Drummond, he seems like the type of big man shooters and guards love to play with.
Of course, they won’t be the only ones after him. With multiple potential suitors, the Knicks will have to be willing to give up just about anyone if they want the best chance at landing the star big man.
