Gilbert Arenas brought something to the table on the ongoing beef between Kendrick Perkins and Kevin Durant, which escalated to a whole different dimension when Russell Westbrook returned to Oklahoma City.
Not everybody reacted the same way with Perkins, who is now part of the media, not just another NBA player. Others, though, decided to lecture him on the whole story of why KD left the Thunder in the first place. Gilbert Arenas, for instance, took to Instagram to describe what took Durant to make that infamous decision.

“Everyone has their opinion about Kevin Durant-Warriors move and as a hooper you should have put more thought into what you said, so I’ll give u an history lesson,” Arenas said in an Instagram post. “2012, a young and upcoming OKC team went to The Finals being inexperienced, they lost to the Heat… 2013, the team didn’t succeed like they would have wanted. That summer OKC ownership made the dumbest move by not securing Harden. If you can put Harden back. [The trio of] KD/Russ/Harden was more powerful then Curry/Klay/Green, which later became the team to beat (Golden State one ring) could have been easily been an OKC 3-peat if Harden never left.“Now 2016, OKC takes 3-1 [lead] to Golden State and loses. Cavs won the championship that season. KD is a free agent…here’s where short-minded thinkers fail to realize Durant had no choice. OKC was moving backward in progress. Now here’s why KD had no choice. Ya sit on TV with pushing rings and legacy down kids/fans throats, so KD is a free agent at 27 years old with a sheet that looks like this: 7-time All-Star. 7-time All-NBA. 4-time scoring champ. 1-time MVP. 2-time All-Star MVP. 2-time gold medalist. There are not 5 NBA players in history that can say they were FIRST BALLOT HALL OF FAMERS by [age] 27. The only thing needed as an individual player was a ring and Finals MVP.”

Arenas then started to analyze opinions, as Kevin Durant sat out to conquer the one thing that was missing in his career by the age of 27.
“Only two teams that can give him those two boxes [a title and Finals MVP] were Golden State and Cavs, who were the champs. Being the champs, Cavs weren’t making a move,” Arenas continued before lightly amending his previous statement. “Actually like me say this better. Cavs being cheap asses wasn’t gonna sign KD (Dan Gilbert bought that team in 2005) the biggest outside free agent they have signed was Larry Hughes in 2005. That was 15 years ago. Contracts have doubled since then and that’s still the biggest outside free agent signing. So the only team that’s left was Golden State.
“As someone checking boxes off his NBA career, that was the smartest move he could have made. I’m sorry Kendrick, but everyone is not lucky enough to be a sorry ass rebuilding Boston team and bam bam, two ex-Boston players (Danny Ainge and Kevin McHale) do a deal that makes you a champ. Now ya think you light-skinned with ya chest out. P.S. I agree with 99% of the stuff you spit, though.”
You could say anything to Perkins trying to make a point, but Arenas used the best method to show why Durant made such a big decision.
Truth to be told, Perkins has nothing to do against KD in terms of personal honors, but Arenas explaining this whole thing from a neutral point of view makes you realize how bad the former Boston Celtics center is.
