NBA Rumors: 4 Teams Are Interested In C.J. McCollum

In the midst of the Blazers’ struggles, it’s only natural that trade rumors loom around the franchise’s head.

Perhaps the most popular name in the rumor mill right now is long-time Blazers guard C.J. McCollum. At 28-years-old, and a borderline All-Star, he is one that would deliver a big haul in the trade market for Portland.

According to ESPN NBA Insiders Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe, at least four teams have already emerged as potential suitors: the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, and Philadelphia 76ers.

While all those teams could help balance Portland’s roster, there is evidence to support that we shouldn’t be so quick to assume something will get done. For one, CJ is not the problem. On the backs of him and backcourt running mate Damian Lillard, the Blazers have been a continuous presence in the postseason, even making it as far as the Western Conference Finals just one season ago.

Additionally, the organization has been adamant about its loyalty to McCollum in the past. Keeping both he and Dame seem to be very important for the team.

CJ cannot be dealt until Jan, 30 and it’s very doubtful Portland would want to take on that contract of Horford. And there has NEVER been any indication Blazers would trade CJ. OK? https://t.co/yRyqACsjJo

Still, the Trail Blazers haven’t been this bad in years, and losing has a way of changing things. If things continue to spiral out of control, they might just consider a move if it gives them a chance at contention.

Obviously, multiple teams will be waiting if they do decide to finally blow it up.
