Ayesha Curry is at the center of a social media storm. Her candid outpouring on the Call Your Daddy podcast about the conditions of her marriage has struck a chord with Stephen Curry’s fans, and it appears that many people disagree with her. One man who does, though, is NBA veteran Gilbert Arenas. The former Golden State Warriors point guard went on a rant explaining why he understands what Curry is trying to say. And those who are against her do not see where she’s coming from.

“Oh, speaking of Curry, oh my god! Hey, listen, I might be the only person that’s on his wife’s side because I understand what she is actually saying, and the fact that so many people are hating this woman. Y’all are lost. I’m sorry. Y’all are not understanding what she is really saying!” he said through a post on his social media channel.

Ayesha Curry spoke about how she never saw herself becoming a mother or being so involved with family life. When she was growing up, she wanted to be a career woman. But after she met Stephen Curry, things changed. But now, when she looks back, there is a part of her that feels regret. Clapping back at her critics, Arenas further explained what he thinks she was trying to convey and how it has been perceived in a distorted way by most of the people calling her out.

“She’s saying she didn’t see herself with kids. She didn’t see herself married. She said she’s seen herself as a career woman. She wasn’t considering herself as a f***** groupie. She didn’t have preconceived notions like he is gonna be Steph Curry, and I just want to marry him to sit under him.” Arenas added.

Ayesha Curry was born and lived in Canada till the time she was 14. Then her family shifted to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she met Curry in their youth church group. They did not start dating for a while since she had a no-athlete policy against dating athletes. She believed they were too arrogant. Years later, the two reconnected and fell in love.

“Her intentions with him were purely about him and ‘we’re just gonna be together and you’re gonna do your thing, I’m gonna do my thing. You’re gonna be successful, I’m gonna be successful, and she says she fell into being a mother and being a stay-at-home wife.” Arenas further explained.

So her plan did not include having kids so early and giving up a career to take care of them. She tried and pursued multiple careers when she was young, including an acting career. She tried her luck in Los Angeles and even got guest roles in Disney’s shows, Hannah Montana and Good Luck Charlie.

Around 2014, she started posting food-related content through blogs and videos. She noted that her professional drive came from her mother, who ran a small business for 40 years. She once recalled that some of her fondest memories are from helping out with her mother’s salon. So ever since she was a child, she had dreams of having a professional outlook on life. But she admitted that all of that paused once she had her child, soon after marriage.  Her plans derailed, and thus she feels a sting when she looks back at how she was versus what she’s become.
