The Golden State Warriors are the fourth Western Conference team to improve their season record to 3-1 after picking up a 124-106 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. The Warriors came into this game without Stephen Curry, who was out with an ankle injury but managed to deploy their league-leading offense without their centerpiece. Andrew Wiggins was also ruled out of the contest.
Buddy Hield was the star of the night for Golden State, putting up 28 points and three steals while shooting 7-11 from three-point range. Summer addition Lindy Waters III put up 21 points, eight rebounds, and four assists in a crucial outing while Brandin Podziemski had a great 19-point performance (8-18 FG). Moses Moody and Jonathan Kuminga each added 17 points apiece, despite Kuminga being demoted to the bench.
Fans were excited to see this outcome for the franchise.
“Warriors win without Curry,” said a fan in shock after the fantastic performance.
Buddy Hield’s performance was standing out for many, with fans sharing video clips of Curry celebrating Hield’s hot shooting.

“This Buddy Hield run is insane,” was all one fan could say after watching him light the Pelicans up in the third quarter.
“Hield’s f***ing insane, you Mavs fans can take Klay’s 19-point efficient games, this brudda drops 25+ bombs,” said a fan believing the Warriors have upgraded from Klay Thompson by acquiring Hield.
“Who allowed the Golden State Warriors get Buddy Hield? The new Splash Bro,” said one fan putting heavy praise and expectations on Hield.
“Zero Steve Kerr complaints tonight. He cooked up some insane sh*t all night long,” said a fan who has loved Steve Kerr’s coaching impact to start the season.
“Amazing Kuminga game on both ends,” said a fan happy to see Kuminga’s performance improve after a sudden demotion to the bench before tip-off.
The short-handed Pelicans were led by efficient 30-point outings from Zion Williamson (31 PTS, 8 REB, 12-19 FG) and Brandon Ingram (30 PTS, 12-17 FG), who had no support as all other Pelicans were held to under 10 points. The team was without summer acquisition Dejounte Murray and lost ace p[perimeter defender Herb Jones to a shoulder injury during this game.
The Pelicans are considered a Playoff-caliber team but the sudden injury misfortune caused them to stutter in this loss to the Warriors, who overcame even bigger rotational concerns with both Curry and Wiggins out of action.
