Things have gone from bad to worse for the Lakers in tonight’s game against the Thunder, which ended in a 139-96 blowout win for Oklahoma.
With a little less than eight minutes left in the third quarter, Luka Doncic went down limping after seemingly aggravating a hamstring injury that had been lingering since the first half.

NBA fans saw this incident on social media and showed concern for the Lakers’ superstar.
“Luka Doncic down with a hamstring injury… this game just keeps getting worse 😭.”
“Hoping it’s nothing serious! He’s been having an awesome streak.”
“Basketball fans everywhere are holding their breath right now. Praying for a speedy recovery for Luka.”
“The worst possible time for a hamstring flare-up. Please be okay, Luka.”
“Prayers up for Luka 🙏 the playoffs are two weeks away, and the last thing the Lakers need is a hamstring issue flaring up at the worst time 💀 please be OK bro 😤.”
“Non-contact injuries are the worst 😭 Praying it’s minor for Luka. No one wants to see that, even in a Lakers win. Speedy recovery.”
Several fans also accused Doncic of faking an injury since the Lakers are down badly and have no chance of winning this game. But I highly doubt that is the case, since Doncic is an intense competitor who doesn’t give up until the final buzzer.
Moreover, the Lakers’ superstar had already suffered a hamstring injury earlier in the season, and it is possible that the Slovenian superstar aggravated the pre-existing injury.
We pray for a speedy recovery for Doncic and condemn anyone accusing the superstar of faking this injury. This is a bad sign for the Lakers, who were already down by 32 points at this time.
Following the game, JJ Redick confirmed that the team will do an MRI on Doncic tomorrow and then give an update on his injury.
The Lakers were already worried about the potential injury to Austin Reaves, who had to head back to the locker room earlier tonight with a recurring back issue. Although Reaves came back out, he might be playing through an injury at this time.
Doncic, who had been averaging over 40.0 points per game in the last 10 games, had been making a case for the MVP award. But if he is now absent for an extended period, then those chances are definitely gone with him.
Moreover, he struggled to score tonight and ended up with only 12 points, four rebounds, and seven assists while going 3-10 from the field (30.0 FG%) and 1-7 from beyond the three-point line (14.3 3P%).
After this loss, the Lakers will face the Thunder once again on Tuesday at home after heading to Dallas to face the Mavericks on Sunday. If they do not have Doncic available in that game, we could be looking at a repeat performance of tonight from the Thunder.
The Lakers will fall to 50-27 following this defeat and will snap their four-game winning streak tonight. Meanwhile, the Thunder will create some more space at the top of the Western Conference as they will improve to 61-16, 2.5 games ahead of the Spurs in second.
